Steady Results from Our Paper Goods Company

Packaging Corporation of America (PKG) has moved only a little since reporting second -quarter earnings on Friday.

Earnings per share (EPS) of $2.04 vs. $2.08 the previous year was in line with expectations on flat sales of $1.8 billion. Guidance for the third-quarter EPS of $1.94 was below expectations of over $2.00, but given the recent decline in container board prices, the lower guidance was largely anticipated by the market.

I still believe PKG remains an excellent way to play a re-acceleration in economic growth next year. Buy the shares below $100 as I target $115. The 3.1% dividend yield will add to total returns.
