As we celebrated Father’s Day a few weeks ago, I was fortunate
to be having a heartfelt talk with my 18-year-old daughter, Alexandra,
and 16-year-old son, Joseph, about the wonderful opportunities
they will face in the years and decades to come.
Alexandra is off to college in September (talk about an emotional
time for ol’ Dad), and Joey is about to start his sophomore
year of high school. Both are very familiar with what we do here
in GameChangers, having read past issues and visited our web site
many times. They know how much time, effort and care I put into
my work.
Joey asked me a question that got me thinking. He asked,
“Dad, what drives you every day? Why do you love your work
so much?” What a great question. Of course, he’s also on his best
behavior as we await the new iPhone he was promised for his
birthday!
Nonetheless, I knew he was serious, and, like any dad, my
answer ended up being a lecture. I’ll sum up in three words what
I told them: “Make it matter.” Wherever your passions in life take
you—from family to career to hobbies—make them matter!
I explained to Joey and Alexandra that we only go through this
life once. There are no dress rehearsals, so we should not waste
time on unproductive things or negative people. OK, so I got a
little carried away, but it was Father’s Day.
I try to live up to this standard. I’ve spent the past several
decades studying stocks and investing, and Joey is right—I love
my work. I try to use my passion for investing to your advantage.
My goal each and every day here in GameChangers is to make a
difference in your life by helping you invest in the companies best
positioned to build your wealth.
I want to help you attain your goals, from living the retirement
you dream of to buying a home to paying for your children’s
college education. (That last one is certainly on my list at the
moment!) But no matter what you do with your money, I hope
you’re spending it on your passions and “making it matter.”
Hopefully someday my children will have the same opportunity
that I have to do what I love. I enjoy the satisfaction of knowing
that my job makes a difference in your life. I thank you for giving
me that opportunity, and I promise to always give you my very
best. We’re off to a great start here in GameChangers, but I firmly
believe the best is yet to come.
Sincerely,
Georges Yared
