Looking Back and Looking Forward

Despite what some anxious investors had been thinking last year, the end of quantitative easing (QE) did not kill the stock market. However, the nature of the market has definitely changed and that became quite evident in the first quarter. For the second quarter, I expect the market will continue to trade in a possibly tight range, as the lack of earnings gains and historically high valuations will make sharp advances—higher or lower—less likely.
