Visible Profits from "Invisible" Technology

As part of my quest to uncover GameChangers for you, I have visited
over 200 technology companies in my career, many of them
several times.

I’m no engineer or doctor or computer programmer, but I make it
my job to understand behind-the-scenes technology. I walk in with the
attitude that can best be summed up by the Denzel Washington line
from the movie Philadelphia: “Talk to me like I am a sixth-grader.”

If a corporate bigwig tells me his chip is 0.18 microns and can
handle four million transistors on a single chip, I have to make it my
business to know if that’s game-changing or not to determine if the
stock will make you rich. That’s why I like face-to-face meetings, so
I can ask a lot of questions. I also like to visit other companies in the
same industry.

I remember one trip that was particularly intriguing: In the morning
that day, I visited Cisco Systems, which told me their computer
networking routers and switches were “the best in the world.” That
same afternoon, I headed over to Cisco’s toughest competitor, Juniper
Networks, where management told me they had the best routers and
switches!

Both believed they were telling me the truth, so my job was to dig
deeper. I probed them both on where and when they lost competitive
bids to each other. I asked what their customers told them and talked to
their customers myself. Did one company have an advantage based on
price? Which chips functioned better? Did they deliver them on time?
And so on.

I learned they were both right, which is rare, so I bought both stocks
and went on to make gains of 1,000% for my clients! That’s what I want
to do for you.

Profiting from Behind-the-Scenes Technology

The truth is, technology is present in nearly every product we touch
anymore, from medical devices to laptops to iPods to cell phones to
TVs—even the refrigerator! And so much of what makes these things
work is hidden inside.

For example, I’m writing this to you on my laptop. It wasn’t that
long ago that the computer itself was a marvel (and took up an entire
city block), then came the PC, and now today’s laptop has the computing
power that is at least 10 times what it was five
years ago—for a cheaper price! We can also build a
computer as small as a deck of cards!

Or how about airbags? They’re standard on all new
cars, so we don’t really think about them, but they are
pretty amazing. They sense a collision, deploy in a
fraction of a section and provide enough padding to
save lives.

Honestly, I’m still amazed at something as simple
as a light switch—flip it and bingo, on goes the light.
Or the telephone, which must seem prehistoric to
young people these days, but isn’t it incredible that we
can have a conversation with someone thousands of
miles away?

Personally, I love this technology that you don’t see
but are thrilled that it exists. Even more important for
us as investors, this is fertile ground for finding breakout
stocks that can make us a lot of money.

I particularly enjoy finding companies for you
that are not household names—at least not yet—but
are critical to the development of next-generation
products. By the time most technology companies
are known by everyone, growth and innovation have
slowed to the point where they are no longer exciting
investments.

There are exceptions, of course, like our own
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Google (NASDAQ:
GOOG), which have done very well recently.

Mostly, however, it’s the still unknown companies
that have explosive profit potential. The real
GameChanger companies in technology are the ones
you probably have not heard much about, and I want
to find them for you.

In fact, let’s talk about two such GameChanger
companies right now. Chances are you had not heard
their names before you joined us, but you will be
thrilled that they exist! One saves lives; the other
makes our lives easier. I expect both to be very profitable
for you.
